Wool

Olde English 'Babydoll' Southdown wool has a soft, springy handle, very little grease, and is very fine: 64s to 68s (19µ to 22 µ). It has neither luster nor kemp. The staple length is 2 to 3 ½ inches (5 to 9 cm) with inconsistent spiral crimping. The average well-skirted fleece weighs about 5 pounds (2.5 kg). Beautiful blends are made with the Babydoll wool and angora or appropriate dog or cat hair.

Skirting fleeces

This lovely wool can be used for: baby clothes, warm shawls, soft blankets, fine indoor knitwear, and lightweight woven cloth, woolen or worsted.

Currently, I have well-skirted fleeces for sale to handspinners. Check the Fibres page for details.
